Offsite timber construction changes where a building is manufactured. Instead of completing most structural operations on the construction site, a significant part of the building is prepared in a factory before delivery.
The concept can range from relatively simple prefabricated components to large wall, floor and roof elements manufactured specifically for an individual building.
The more complete the elements are when they leave the factory, the fewer operations remain to be completed on site.
For builders and developers, this can mean faster structural assembly, fewer site labour hours and a construction process that is less dependent on weather conditions.
